The Deputy
Chair of Civic Engagement of the Democratic National Committee (DNC),
Frank Spencer, made some stunning admissions during his recent speech
at Politicon.
Concerning
of what the American people really want, it was like he was
discovering a new habitable planet:
We found
that a solid majority of Americans wanted universal
government-sponsored healthcare, and even almost half of all
Republicans did.
A
majority wanted stronger unions, again across the political spectrum,
especially workers, but everyone.
Two-thirds
of Americans wanted tuition free college.
Non-interventionism
was very popular. As we know, a number of Trump voters voted that way
because of his promises to keep us out of conflicts.
Almost
everyone in our survey and in the polls thinks that Wall Street has
way too much influence, and many people would said they would get rid
of corporate lobbying altogether.
And here
comes the better part:
Once we
had understood these concerns, that we had failed to address, we
began to look at how we could do so in the future. And that's when we
realized we couldn't. Our hands were tied, in large part because
of our donors (!).
Medicare
for all, would be a disaster for the insurance companies and
pharmaceutical companies who are very important donors to our party.
They loved Obamacare, which, however, did not lower costs. And
medicare for all, which would, these companies did not like quite as
much.
Strong
unions would be horrible for many of our friends in the management
community.
The
schools that almost all of us hail from, might not take so well to
the idea of tuition free colleges, which would bite into some of
their profits.
It
would be pretty hard for military contractors to give up the four
hundred billion dollars that flows their way, in part stimulated by
foreign interventions.
And as
for preventing corporations from lobbying in government, or providing
public financing of the elections, it's hard to imagine that any of
our donors who would like that very much.
These are
really stunning admissions on behalf of the DNC. Never before the
Dems have gone that far to admit, essentially, that they are
corrupted! As you will see in the video, Jimmy Dore and the others in
The Young Turks didn't buy it. It appears that they support that
actually Spencer was not speaking on behalf of DNC and DNC will
eventually be forced to deny what Spencer said.
Well, as
much as surprising it may sound, maybe not!
Simply
because the Democrats understand that they are about to be vanished
from the US political map in case that Bernie Sanders form his own
political party towards real Socialism. This is probably a desperate
last effort to keep their electoral base and attract more voters,
especially from the American youth, in order to stay alive and win
the 2020 election.
Besides,
everyone knows that the Democrats are corrupted and in bed with the
bankers and the lobbyists for years, just like the Republicans. So,
what more could possibly lose? This could be their last card to play,
declaring that they are regretted for their stance in order to
persuade voters that they are really willing to bring a radical
change in the Democratic party that will make the difference for the
first time after decades.
So, at this
point, Jimmy Dore is probably right in a sense that this is just
another trick of the DNC to regain the lost electoral power. This is
probably the ultimate effort to prevent Bernie Sanders from forming a
political movement that will become a real threat for the
establishment. Once they will get the votes they want, crushing
Bernie, they will practically maintain their 'business as usual'
functioning. That is whatever their neoliberal donors want: more
for-profit wars, even less welfare state, further deregulation in
finance and labor sector, more privatizations, etc. In other words,
continuation of the same policies towards Feudalism 2.0, as
scheduled.
After all,
remember what Donald Trump was saying before the elections and what
he did right after he got elected. It seems that,
indeed, the only salvation for the US right now is the formation of a
political movement that will really serve the American people, away
from the bipartisan fraud.
In any case,
this is a significant turning point for the Democrats, thanks to
Bernie Sandrers, but mostly, thanks to the American youth that
overwhelmingly supported him. Because it forces Democrats for the
first time after decades to declare clearly that they are willing to
move further to the Left, abandon big money, serve the majority of
the American people, even if they are doing it as a political
maneuver to save themselves from extinction.
P.S.: Consider this article also as a prank, but wait until announcements by the Dems ...

ReplyDeleteSocialism is not the problem in Venezuela. It is the dirty intervention by the US empire.
